Music Runs in the Family: A Legacy of Music
Jul 22, 2024Music has always been a part of my life. While I never had the chance to know my birth mother, a gifted pianist and choir singer who tragically passed away when I was young, her musical influence was profound. It wasn't until I met my birth grandmother, a talented pianist and violinist, at 19 that I fully realized the depth of this musical heritage. Both my siblings and I took piano lessons, but my passion ignited for the guitar.
After graduating from GIT in 1988, I embarked on a teaching career, eventually juggling over 50 students a week. The desire to further my musical education led me to Belmont University in Nashville, where I earned a degree in composition and arranging. Those years were filled with incredible experiences, including performing on the Grand Ole Opry and touring the country. Even my Mississippi-born father, expressed his pride in my accomplishments.
The transition to online teaching during the pandemic allowed me to reach students beyond my local community. I've since created online courses, distilling over three decades of teaching into accessible and affordable learning experiences.
Today, I continue to perform with bands and share my passion for music through teaching. Your musical journey is unique, and I'm here to help you every step of the way.
Let's connect and discuss your guitar goals!
All the Best!
