The -2 Point Play: A Lesson in Resilience

They say sports build character, and in my case, basketball was the crucible. Convinced by friends to join a team, I naively stepped onto the court, oblivious to the potential pitfalls. My active nature, fueled by my mom’s encouragement, had me diving into sports year-round.

Then came the infamous -2 point play. A moment etched into my memory, a stark reminder that even the most well-intentioned actions can have unexpected outcomes. The mortification was intense, the dread of facing my classmates palpable.

Yet, from this embarrassing blunder emerged a valuable lesson: resilience. Basketball might not have been my forte, but baseball was my passion. Soccer kept me active during the off-season, and I even avoided football due to a pesky grass allergy.

Fast forward later that year, and I redeemed myself with a perfect game in Little League, a moment captured in the local paper. That experience taught me that setbacks are temporary, and with perseverance, triumph is within reach.
